Yesterday evening, at the WWDC event, Steve Jobs finally officially proclaimed iPhone’s next generation “4G”. Though the lost iPhone prototype had already rusted the excitement of the new phone, as blogosphere had revealed a few expected features, but still a great deal of it was left for the event to uncover. After all a mother knows its child better than anyone else; is it Steve’s?
“The very newly launched iPhone 4 is one the most gracious and beautiful designs you could amuse yourself with”, said Steve Jobs. While Steve’s presented the iPhone 4, during the conference in San Francisco, he admired its beauty and told the audience that, “This is without a doubt the most precise thing and one of the most beautiful things we’ve ever made.”
In spite the beauty part, Steve also showed his interest in hardware upgrades. Here is what you see on the new iPhone:
* Through a look on the device it is observed that the iPhone 4 is 24% thinner than the current iPhone that makes iPhone 4 as sleek as 9.3mm.
* The display screen is same to that current iPhone margined as 3.5
* The iPhone 4 screen is four times better than the current iPhone with 326 ppi display pixel density.
* The beautiful and glossy casing for the new generation iPhone included a stainless steel, with glass at the back of device.
* Powered by A4 chip
* Larger battery attached with almost 7 hours of talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music and 300 hours of standby
* The iPhone 4 lets you download 7.2MB and 5.8MB upload speeds in whole also depending upon the carrier capabilities
These were the revised features of the current iPhone. The additional features to the new generation are:
* Gyroscope
Jobs said “iPhone is getting more and more intelligent in regards of the landscape around it and that’s so true about the iPhone 4 that sensors five senses including a gyroscope.” But what actually does it mean for the users; a more enhanced gaming experience or app accessibility? It is specified that iPhone 4’s internal gyroscope can sense the motions on almost six axes. Steve’s demonstrates an axle in a circle with the mass of blocks in an app that actually spun with him.
* Camera flash
iPhone never had any camera flash, but now we can see an LED flash on the iPhone 4’s camera. So, now we’ll be able to shoot photos and videos clearly at the night time.
* Better camera
Camera in iPhone4 is a little larger in size with 5 megapixels of resolution, still leading behind HTC Droid’s Incredible 8-megapixel camera. iPhone 4 offers HD video shoot with a video-editing app known as iMovie that allows shooting, editing and sharing of videos with the phone instantaneously.
Video conferencing
The most amazing additional feature is video conferencing with a front facing camera. Jobs states it to be budding trend in the mobile landscape.
Stainless steel antennae
The flattened iPhone 4 from both the sides is followed up by band of stainless steel that goes all round the edges as a trim. It’s just not the design folk, said Steve that is actually an antenna.
“It’s never been done before and it’s really cool engineering,” Jobs said.
Wireless carrier
Like always, iPhone 4 is only available with AT&T. All of us were expecting multiple carriers especially Verizon, this time, but AT&T monopoly seems to go strong with the new phone.
iPhone 4 will be available online or at the store for $199 (16GB) or $299 (32GB), soon in U.S from 24th June. Apple has stopped iPhone 3GS manufacturing and only cleaning up their pending stocks by the 24th June for the current iPhone 4G or HD.
